I love the smell of anything with spices baking in the oven. I thing it brings a warm, cozy feeling into the entire house. I duplicate this by filling a baking pan with a little bit of water and a handful of spices. I then put the pan into my toaster oven at the lowest "warm" setting. The smell of the baking spices permeates throughout the house.
I will warn you of two things. First, don't let the water completely evaporate or it could become a fire hazard. Clearly, you would not want to leave your toaster oven on while you were not home (also, you would want to be home while it smells so good!) Second, the intoxicating aroma may make you crave pies, cookies and cakes. Scent your home wisely to avoid overeating!
You can use any spices you like. My favorites include cinnamon (I throw whole cinnamon sticks into the toaster oven water bath,) nutmeg, mace, cloves (I use those whole too) and ginger (I like to use the skins peeled from fresh ginger rather than just throwing the skins out.) Put your favorite spices into the water bath and enjoy! Let the water and spice mix cool down before removing from the toaster oven to avoid burn injuries.
